Blueberry oven french toast recipe details
- Ingredients:
- Italian bread (large loaf)
- 6 eggs
- 1-1/2 cups half & half
- 1-1/2 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon oil or 1 Tablespoon lemon zest
- Dash of nutmeg
- Topping:
- 1 stick soft butter
- 1 cup blueberries (rinsed, sorted, and stemmed)
- 1 cup brown sugar
Butter a 13 x 9-inch Pyrexglass baking dish. Arrange Italian bread, cut into 3/4- to 1-inch slices, in baking dish.
Mix eggs, half & half, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, lemon oil or zest, and nutmeg in large bowl and pour over bread. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
The next morning, liberally sprinkle blueberries over bread. Mix butter and brown sugar with pastry blender or fork; sprinkle topping over bread and blueberries. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Dust with confectioners sugar and serve warm
