Ingredients
Serves: 10- 1 can roasted tomatoes
- 2 tablepoons chipotle paste
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce or chili paste
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 cup molasses
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- salt to taste
Preparation method
Prep: 20 mins | Cook: 30 mins1. Blend tomatoes, chipotle chili paste, and hot sauce together. In a saucepan, bring brown sugar, molasses, water, cider vinegar, honey, and vegetable oil to a boil. Add blended tomato mixture, liquid smoke, black pepper, and salt.
2. Let everything return to a boil and then reduce to a simmer for 25 more minutes. If the sauce isn’t thick enough for your liking, add a teaspoon of corn starch or some other root starch to thicken.
3. Let cool and and bottle, refrigerate.
