Ingredients
500 g | bacon, diced |
500 g | pork shoulder, diced |
250 g | Polish sausage, sliced |
500 g | sauerkraut, sliced |
250 g | onions |
250 g | mushrooms, sliced |
½ cup(s) | tomato puree |
3 clove(s) | garlic, minced |
1 | bay leaf |
1 cup(s) | white wine |
paprika powder | |
marjoram | |
caraway seeds | |
salt and pepper | |
lard |
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 120°C.In a large roasting tin heat some lard and fry the bacon, onion, mushrooms and pork until slightly browned. Add the sauerkraut, sausage, bay leaf, tomato purée, garlic and wine and just barely cover with water. Season with salt, pepper, paprika powder, marjoram and caraway.
Cover and transfer into the oven. Cook for at least 3 hours.
Check seasoning and correct if necessary. Serve with a bowl of sour cream and crusty bread.
