Ingredients
24 slices white potato bread, crusts removed
6 eggs
1 quart half & half
2 teaspoons vanilla
2/3 cup sugar
A couple dashes of nutmeg
24 ounces whipped cream cheese
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 eggs
1/2 cup sugar
Instructions:

Prepare the night before you plan to serve. To cook, preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease or spray a 15 x 10 x 2-inch glass baking dish. Arrange 12 slices of the trimmed bread in the dish in 2 rows, overlapping slightly lengthwise to fit dish.

Mix together 6 eggs, half & half, 2 teaspoons vanilla, 2/3 cup sugar, and nutmeg. Pour 1/2 of this mixture over the bread. Then, thoroughly blend (with electric mixer if possible) together cream cheese, 2 teaspoons vanilla, 2 eggs, and 1/2 cup sugar until creamy. Pour evenly over moistened bread. Arrange remainder of bread on top of filling, then pour remaining half & half mixture evenly over that. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight.

Bake, covered with foil, for 30 minutes; then remove foil and continue to bake for another 20 minutes until puffy and just appearing to brown. Remove and let stand for another 10 minutes. Dust with powdered sugar and serve hot with raspberry syrup or warm spiced apples.
