Beef and stout stew recipe details
Ingredients
1 kg | beef chuck, cut into 3cm cubes |
salt and freshly ground black pepper | |
4 | carrots, peeled and sliced |
½ bulb(s) | celeriac, peeled and diced |
2 | onions, chopped |
2 tbsp | oil |
3 tbsp | tomato puree |
500 ml | stout |
500 ml | beef stock |
2 tbsp | flour |
4 sprig(s) | thyme, chopped |
4 sprig(s) | marjoram, chopped |
Instructions
In a saucepan, heat the oil. Fry the meat over high heat until golden brown all around. Add the vegetables and cook stirring over medium heat for 2-3 minutes. Add the tomato purée and the flour and cook stirring for another minute. Pour in the stock and the beer and add the herbs. Season with salt and pepper. Cover and cook over low heat for 1,5-2 hours until the meat is tender.Adjust seasoning and serve with boiled potatoes.
