Baked red onions recipe details
Ingredients
120 ml | water |
1 small | bay leaf |
2 tbsp | balsamic vinegar |
3 tbsp | olive oil |
4 large | red onions, unpeeled |
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375°F/190°C.Mix the water with balsamic vinegar, add the bay leaf and set aside. Cut the onions in halves.
Heat the oil in an ovenproof skillet until almost smoking. Fry the onions, cut side down, for approximately 8 minutes or until the cut side is brown.
Remove the pan from the heat and pour the vinegar mixture over the onions. Cover the pan with a lid and place in the oven for 15 minutes.
Serve the onions in a dish with the cut side up and drizzled with the remaining liquid.
Goes well with steaks or any roast.
