Ingredients
For the dough: | |
4 slice(s) | white bread |
50 g | butter |
2 | eggs |
1 pinch(es) | salt |
250 g | flour |
3 tbsp | milk |
500 g | apples |
To garnish: | |
1 | apple |
1 tbsp | lemon juice |
40 g | cinnamon and sugar mix |
lemon balm | |
To serve: | |
vanilla sauce |
Instructions
Soak the bread shortly in cold water, then squeeze to remove excess water.Whisk the butter until smooth. Stir in the eggs, one at a time. Stir in the bread, salt and sugar. Mix in the flour and the milk bit by bit in turn.
Wash, peel and quarter the apples. Remove the core. Cut in small pieces and fold them in the dough. Use two tablespoons to scoop dumplings out of the dough. Transfer the dumplings in salted boiling water. Simmer over medium heat for 15 minutes.
Wash, peel and cut the remaining apple in thin slices. Remove the core. Sprinkle the slices with lemon juice.
Serve the dumplings with the apple slices, sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar mix. Garnish with lemon balm and serve with vanilla sauce.
