Brussels sprouts and squash casserole recipe details
Ingredients
500 g | Brussels sprouts, frozen |
300 g | winter squash, cubed |
1 medium | onion, chopped |
60 g | butter |
30 g | wheat flour |
240 ml | milk |
½ tsp | salt |
¼ tsp | marjoram |
1 dash(es) | nutmeg |
Instructions
Steam sprouts and squash in separate pots until just tender. Set aside. Preheat oven to 170°C.While squash and sprouts cook, chop onion. Sauté onion in butter, add flour and cook for about 3 minutes.
Add milk, salt and marjoram whilst stirring continuously. Bring to a boil and remove from heat.
Grease a baking dish and arrange cubed squash on bottom. Then make an even layer of the brussels sprouts and pour the white sauce over the vegetables. Sprinkle with nutmeg and bake for 30 minutes.
