- Ingredients
- 3 tart Granny Smith apples, peeled and chopped
- 1 can whole cranberry sauce
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup uncooked oatmeal
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (pecans or English walnuts)
- 1 stick (1/2 cup) butter
Another innkeeper gave us this recipe when we first opened. We serve it for breakfast, but in the winter if we are serving a luncheon this is mighty tasty with a scoop of vanilla ice cream served over the hot crunch.
Place apples on bottom of greased casserole dish. Spread cranberry sauce over apples. Mix together brown sugar, oatmeal, and chopped nuts and sprinkle over apples and cranberries. Melt butter and drizzle over oatmeal mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes or until apples are soft.
