American style pan baked pizza recipe details
Ingredients
For the dough: | |
3 medium | eggs, separated |
175 g | spelt flour |
200 g | wheat flour |
20 g | fresh yeast, crumbled |
½ tsp | salt |
500 ml | lukewarm milk |
3 tbsp | butter, melted |
For the topping: | |
100 g | pickled peppers, sliced |
150 g | salami, sliced |
125 g | Mozzarella cheese, sliced |
100 g | freshly grated Parmesan cheese, grated |
250 ml | thick tomato sauce |
3 sprig(s) | rosemary, chopped leaves |
Instructions
In a bowl put the egg yolks, flour, yeast, salt and the milk and stir until smooth. Allow to rise in a warm place for 30 minutes. Whisk the egg whites until stiff. Fold the beaten egg white and the melted butter into the batter.Pour ¼ of the batter into a buttered ovenproof pan. Fry for 5 minutes over low-medium heat until slightly set. Spread with ¼ of the tomato sauce and top with ¼ of the salami, pickled peppers, rosemary, Mozzarella and Parmesan.
Place under the preheated grill of your oven for 5 minutes. Repeat the procedure with the remaining ingredients.
