Adam's apple strata recipe details
- Ingredients:
- 8 slices French bread, cubed
- 1-1/2 cups white sharp cheddar cheese, grated
- 1 cup chopped Virginia ham
- Pepper to taste
- 4 apples, sliced thin and rolled in cinnamon sugar
- 8 eggs
- 1-1/2 cups milk
- 1/2 teaspoon dry or Dijon mustard
- Worcestershire sauce to taste
- 1/2 stick butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
Layer in order: half the bread, half the cheese, all of the ham (sprinkled generously with fresh pepper), all of the apple slices, the remaining bread and remaining cheese. In a blender, combine the remaining ingredients except the butter and nutmeg. Pour mixture over the casserole and top with the melted butter and nutmeg. Refrigerate overnight. Bake uncovered in a 350-degree oven for 45 to 60 minutes or until firm to the touch.
