Whisky rarebit recipe details
Ingredients
30 g | butter |
180 g | Cheddar cheese, grated |
1 medium | egg, yolk and white separated |
1 tbsp | Scotch whisky |
1 dash(es) | English mustard |
salt and pepper to taste | |
4 slice(s) | bread |
Instructions
Melt the butter in a saucepan and add the grated Cheddar cheese. Add 1 tablespoon of Scotch whisky and the English mustard. Season to taste with salt and pepper.Stir over a low heat until the mixture is smooth.
Reduce heat and stir in 1 egg yolk. Beat the egg white until stiff and then fold in with the mixture.
Take from heat and spoon over four slices of hot toast. Place under the grill until the rarebit mixture puffs up and becomes brown.
