The classic Monte Cristo sandwich joins up with waffles for a meaty morning treat.

Ingredients
Serves: 2- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
- 4 slices white bread
- 2 thin slices deli turkey
- 2 slices Swiss cheese
- 2 thin slices deli ham
- 2 teaspoons butter
Preparation method
Prep: 10 mins | Cook: 20 mins1. Preheat waffle iron and broiler.
2. Whisk egg with milk, sugar, and orange zest in a shallow pan. Dip bread in the mixture and cook in the waffle iron to brown.
3. Build sandwiches: a slice of turkey, Swiss cheese, and ham on each. Spread butter on the outside of the sandwiches.
4. Place sandwiches on a baking sheet and broil for 2 minutes, then flip and broil for 2 more minutes until cheese is melted and sandwiches are hot.
