Classic gourmet pasta the quick and easy way, with fresh basil adding the perfect touch of Italian flavor.

Ingredients

Serves: 4
  • 1 pound penne pasta
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup vodka
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sliced fresh basil

Preparation method

Prep: 10 mins | Cook: 15 mins

1. Bring a large pot of salted water to boil over medium heat. Cook pasta until al dente, according to package directions. Drain.
2. Combine butter and oil in a skillet and set over medium heat. Cook garlic in hot oil for 1 minute, then add vodka. Simmer until vodka measures about 1/2 cup.
3. Stir in tomatoes. Simmer for another 5 to 7 minutes, until tomatoes are hot and fragrant. Then sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste and add cream and basil.
4. Serve sauce tossed with hot penne pasta.
