The king's crumblies recipe details
- Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1-1/2 cups sifted flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- dash of salt
- Topping:
- 2 egg whites
- 1 cup of chopped walnuts
- 1 cup brown sugar
Cream sugar and butter. Beat egg yolks and add to sugar and butter. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Spread batter in a greased 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan with hands or a wooden spoon.
Topping:Beat egg whites until stiff; beat briefly to add the brown sugar, but do not overbeat. Fold in nuts. Pour topping over the bottom layer and bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes. Let cool completely before cutting. Topping will crumble when cutting.
