A beef brisket that starts off a little sweet and finishes with a little heat. Use the pan juices to make gravy. This can also be done in a slow cooker.

Ingredients
Serves: 4- 2 1/2 – 3 pound beef brisket
- 5 large carrots
- 2 small onions
- 1 cup apple juice
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon mustard
- 1/3 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Preparation method
Prep: 20 mins | Cook: 3 hours | Extra time: 15 mins1. Mix brown sugar, flour, pepper, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, mustard and cayenne pepper in small bowl. Rub olive oil into brisket and then rub mixture into brisket. Save what is left of mixture.
2. Add olive oil in large pot and brown both sides of roast on medium heat. Add apple juice and rest of mixture to pot. Reduce heat to low and cook until tender and strands start to separate, 3 to 4 hours.
3. Remove beef and wrap in tinfoil to rest, about 15 minutes.
