sticky bun french toast recipe details
- Ingredients:
- 2 Tablespoons corn syrup
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup chopped pecans (more or less to taste)
- 1 loaf unsliced bread with crust removed
- 5 eggs
- 1-1/2 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4 teaspoon salt (optional)
In a small saucepan, combine syrup, butter, and brown sugar and simmer until smooth. While syrup is simmering, spread chopped pecans evenly in bottom of a 8 x 13-inch baking pan and slice bread into 3/4-inch slices. When syrup is ready, spread it over the nut layer in the baking pan. Fit bread slices over the syrup mixture in a single layer.
Beat eggs, milk, vanilla, and salt in a medium-size bowl, then pour evenly over bread. Cover pan and refrigerate overnight. The next morning, preheat oven to 350 degrees and bake toast for 45 minutes. Remove slices and serve upside down on plates so sticky buns mixture is on top. Serve warm as topping will harden as it cools.
