Ingredients
Serves: 4- For Sauce:
- 1 (15 ounce) package chorizo (not pre-cooked)
- 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomato
- 2 tablespoons hot sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- For Dough:
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2/3-3/4 cups warm water
- On the Side as Toppings:
- shredded lettuce
- grated Cheddar cheese
- diced tomato
- jalepeno slices
- coarsely crushed tortilla chips
- sour cream
- diced onion
Preparation method
Prep: 1 hour | Cook: 12 mins1. First prepare the sauce: Cook the chorizo in a preheated skillet at medium for about five minutes. Pour contents including grease into blender
2. Add all other sauce ingredients into the blender. Pulse and puree until at the desired smoothness
3. Next Form Dough: Preheat Oven to 450. Place all dry ingredients into a large bowl. Combine with a fork so that there are few large lumps in the flour
4. Make a small well in the flour, and pour the oil into it. Use the fork to combine it into the flour
5. Using a standing mixer, add the water 1/3 cup at a time at a low speed until a dough forms. Knead until elastic, then allow to set covered in a warm and draft free place for 40 minutes.
6. DO NOT PUNCH THE DOUGH. Carefully remove it, then roll or spin it out into a 16 inch circle.
7. Place onto a pizza pan, then pour sauce onto the pizza, leave room towards the edges for rolling. About one inch.
8. Roll the outer edge of the crust towards the center. This must be done very tightly. About one inch should be lost from the circle.
9. Bake the pizza for 7-12 minutes depending on your crunch preference.
10. Remove pizza from the oven and allow each person to top their piece individually. This will prevent soggy lettuce.
