This recipe is rice with a sauce. I do not really enjoy plain rice. I wanted to make a recipe that was appealing yet easy and delicious.
Ready in: 35 mins
Ingredients
Serves: 4- 4 cups rice (not instant)
- 12 cups water
- 2 bay leaves
- 1/4 cup butter
- 20 peppercorns (crushed)
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- Picante sauce to taste
- 1 (8 ounce) can cream of celery soup
- 1 (8 ounce) can cream of chicken soup
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
Preparation method
Prep: 10 mins | Cook: 25 mins1. Bring water, bay leaves, butter, peppercorns, onion powder, garlic powder, and picante sauce to a boil.
2. After water has boiled for a few minutes, set aside about four cups of water. You’ll use this for the sauce.
3. Add rice to remaining water in pot. Boil covered over low heat until rice is tender, about 25 minutes.
4. For sauce, combine soups, reserved water from above, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder in a saucepan. Warm over medium-low heat until rice is cooked.
5. Spoon rice into bowls and top with desired amount of sauce.
