- Ingredients
- 1 jar of chunky applesauce
- 2 apples, sliced into 1/2-inch slices
- 8 slices bread
- 4 eggs
- ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup wassail spice
Instructions:
Recipe by: Chris King, Innkeeper/Owner and singer. This is also a great sauce for pancakes and waffles.
Heat up the jar of applesauce on medium for about 10 minutes in a quart-size pan. Add 2 to 3 teaspoons of ground cinnamon and 1/4 cup of the wassail spice and stir. Beat the eggs (with or without the yolk) and dunk your bread in momentarily on both sides.
Fry or grill the toast to your liking as far as brownness. Slice the toast diagonally, and place one apple slice on each piece. Spoon out your sauce over the toast and apple slice. Optional to sprinkle a little extra cinnamon on top. Add a dollop of any flavor yogurt on top.
