Simple meatballs get a boozy boost from a sweet, savory, smoky whiskey sauce. (Inspired by david’s “Cosmic Meatballs.”)

Ingredients
Serves: 12- Meatballs:
- 4 eggs, beaten
- 2 cups fresh bread crumbs
- 1 cup minced or grated onion
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon chopped fresh parsley
- 2 pounds lean ground beef
- Salt and pepper
- Whiskey sauce:
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup whiskey
- 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Preparation method
Prep: 35 mins | Cook: 4 hours1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and cover two baking sheets with foil. Coat with nonstick cooking spray.
2. Combine eggs with bread crumbs, onion, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon, and parsley in a large bowl. Crumble beef over the mixture and stir to combine, then pat mixture into meatballs about 1-1/2 inch balls.
3. Set meatballs on prepared baking sheets. Bake for about 20 minutes, until meatballs are no longer pink internally. Transfer to a large slow cooker.
4. Stir ketchup, brown sugar, whiskey, lemon juice, and Worcestershire together in a bowl. Pour over the meatballs and stir to coat.
5. Cook on High for 1 hour, then on Low for 3 hours. Serve.
