This basic chili has a little twist–a dollop of sour cream to add flavor and a creamy consistency. Inspired by tater’s “My Girls’ Chili.”

Ingredients
Serves: 8- 3 pounds ground turkey
- 32 ounces tomato juice
- 16 ounces tomato sauce
- 1 (10 3/4 ounce) can tomato soup
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 onions, diced
- 2 bell peppers, diced
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon ground thyme
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
- 2 cups grated cheese
- 1 cup sour cream
Preparation method
Prep: 20 mins | Cook: 8 hours1. Put a skillet over medium heat and cook the ground turkey until browned, crumbling it as you go. This will take about 10 minutes. (Do it batches if you have a small skillet). Drain off any excess liquid, then transfer to 6-quart slow cooker.
2. Add remaining ingredients to slow cooker, stir well to combine, and cover. Cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours.
3. 30 minutes before you finish cooking, add sour cream and cheese to the slow cooker and stir well. Cover and allow to cook into the dish. Serve and enjoy!Tip
To thicken the chili, combine 2 tablespoons of cornstarch and 2 tablespoons of cold water in a small bowl. Slowly stir cornstarch mixture into stew with slow cooker set to HIGH, then repeat until desired thickness is reached.
