Easy short ribs for the slow cooker. This family dinner idea will cook up while you’re off at work and gain you torrents of praise.

Ingredients
Serves: 6- 3 onions, cut in wedges
- 3 to 3 1/2 pounds bone-in beef short ribs
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 (12 ounce bottle) light beer
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 teaspoons dried thyme
- 2 teaspoons beef bouillon granules
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 1/2 cup cold water
Preparation method
Prep: 20 mins | Cook: 8 hours1. Arrange onions in the bottom of 5 quart slow cooker, then place ribs and bay leaf on top. In a mixing bowl, whisk together remaining ingredients (except for flour and water) and drizzle over the ribs.
2. Cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours.
3. Take ribs and onions out of the slow cooker, put onto a plate, and cover with foil. Pour pan juices into a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. In a small bowl, whisk flour with cold water, then pour in a thin stream into the boiling pan juices. Cook for about 2 minutes until the sauce thickens.
4. Serve ribs with sauce, over pasta, rice, potatoes, or whatever starch you’ve got handy.
