Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither is this amazing brisket. Marinated for a day and slow cooked for a day, by the time you’re ready to eat you’ll have spent more quality time on this brisket than you do with most of your relatives. Mind you, your relatives surely aren’t this delicious.

Ingredients
Serves: 12- For Marinade:
- 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 2 bay leaves
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon celery salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
- 1 (6 pound) beef brisket, cut in half
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- For Barbecue Sauce:
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1/4 cup cider vinegar
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
Preparation method
Prep: 25 mins | Cook: 6 hours1. In a deep, smaller glass baking dish, mix together the Worcestershire, chili powder, bay leaves, garlic, celery salt, pepper, and liquid smoke. Then place the brisket in this mixture and cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate overnight, flipping brisket several times.
2. Next day, place beef in slow cooker and pour the beef broth over it. Place lid on the slow cooker and cook on Low for 8 hours. Remove from slow cooker and reserve 1 cup juices, fat skimmed from the top. Pour remaining juices out and replace brisket.
3. 30 minutes before you want to serve the beef, heat the vegetable oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook the onions in the hot oil for about 6 minutes, then add garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
4. Add ketchup, molasses, cider vinegar, chili powder, and mustard. Pour in the reserved 1 cup of cooking juice from brisket. Whisk to combine, and pour sauce over brisket in slow cooker.
5. Cook brisket on High for 30 minutes. Serve.
