sizzling beef fajitas recipe details
The spices and flavors of the Southwest combine in this simple recipe for fajitas done on your broiling. Remember, broiling is basically the same as grilling, except that the heat source is above the food instead of below.
Ready in: 30 mins
Ingredients
Serves: 4- 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 3/4 teaspoon dried oregano
- 3/4 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 3/4 pound beef sirloin steak
- 2 large onions, sliced
- 2 large red bell peppers, sliced
- 1/4 cup minced fresh cilantro
- 4 (7-inch) flour tortillas
- 4 cups shredded lettuce
- 1/4 cup sour cream
Preparation method
Prep: 10 mins | Cook: 20 mins1. In a bowl, whisk lime juice together with chili powder, oregano, coriander, and pepper. Pour 2 tablespoons of the mixture into a large plastic resealable bag and add the beef. You’ll marinate it for the 15 minutes it’ll take to cook the peppers and onions.
2. Preheat broiler to high and coat a broiler pan with nonstick cooking spray. Set onions and peppers on the broiler pan and broil, 4 inches from the flame, for 10 minutes to char the peppers and brown onions. Slice and toss with cilantro in the bowl with remaining lime mixture.
3. Place beef on the broiler pan. Broil for 8 minutes, flipping midway through cooking time, until beef reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees F (for medium-rare). Let stand for 5 minutes, then slice.
4. Warm tortillas, then serve with beef, peppers, onions, lettuce, and sour cream. Eat it like you would a taco.
