Back in the day I had to work, it was 12-hour shifts, 7 days in a row. On Sundays when we were on daytime shifts (we worked nights, too, but not on the same week!), we’d get together and bring in a really nice dinner. This dip was always required, not just by my crew, but by the day-staffers that came in on Monday, too!
Ready in: 4 hours 15 mins

Ingredients

Serves: 20
  • 2 16 ounce containers sour cream
  • 6 Tablespoons Heinz “Zesty” cocktail sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 packets Lipton’s det onion soup
  • 2 roasted, peeled and diced New Mexico green chilies (or a 4-ounce can diced green chilies)
  • 4 diced jalapeños (or a 4 ounce can diced jalapeños)
  • 1 4.25 ounce can diced ripe olives
  • 2 4.25 ounce cans tiny or broken shrimp, drained
  • 8 ounces grated Mexican 4-cheese
  • Chips Fritos Scoops or ruffled potato chips

Preparation method

Prep: 15 mins | Extra time: 4 hours, chilling

1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the sour cream, cocktail sauce, Worcestershire sauce and dry onion soup. Mix well to combine thoroughly.
2. Stir in the diced green chilies, diced jalapeños, diced ripe olives and shrimp.
3. Add the grated Mexican 4-cheese and stir thoroughly. Cover tightly and refrigerate at least 4 hours so the flavors can blend a bit. Stir again before serving. Keeps for a week in the ‘fridge if covered tightly.Tip

The recipe can be cut in half and still turns out great!

Tip

Use as a topping for burgers…as a dipping sauce for steaks or pork chops…as a sandwich spread…or you name it! It’s very versatile!
