Ready in: 1 hour 20 mins
Ingredients
Makes: 6 single pie crusts- 6 Cups flour
- 3 Teaspoons Salt
- 8 Teaspoons Sugar
- 2 Cups Veg. Shortening
- 2 large Eggs
- 2 Tablespoons Vanilla
- 3/4 Cup Water
Preparation method
Prep: 20 mins | Cook: 1 hour1. Mix all dry ingredients and shortening together with a dough hook, mix for 1 min. then add the rest of the ingredients mix well, (but not too long — too much mixing will make it tough to roll out). Let rest for 10 min. then use about 10- 12 ounces per shell.
2. Roll out of floured surface to about 1/8 in. (its best to use a stick rolling pin). After rolled, roll the shell on the pin and place it on the pie shell and lighty press in place with a piece of dough (not your fingers for this will thin out the dough more then you want too).
3. Fill in with your filling, wet the rim of the pie crust with water, then roll out another 10 – 12 ounce piece of dough and place it on top of the pie to make a cover, pressing it down with your hands at the same time you’re trimming the sides with the palm of your hands, turning it as you are pressing it lighty down slighty to seal, then wipe the top with a little water and sprinkle a little sugar on it.
4. Bake at 350 for 1 hour or untill the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
