Ingredients
150 g | freshly grated Cheddar cheese |
1 | egg |
1 tsp | mustard |
300 g | flour |
salt and freshly ground black pepper | |
200 g | butter, soft |
75 g | walnuts, chopped |
3 tbsp | anise |
1 tbsp | dried basil |
Instructions
In a bowl, combine the flour, with the egg, mustard, butter and the cheese. Season with salt and pepper. Knead until the dough is smooth and pliable. Divide in two equal parts. Knead the walnuts into one part and the anise and basil into the other part.Form two rolls. Wrap the rolls in cling film and refrigerate for an hour.
Preheat the oven to 175°C.
With a sharp knife, cut the rolls into 1cm thick slices. Divide the slices on a lined baking tray and bake for 20 minutes until golden brown.
