Sausage frittata recipe, recipe Rating: 4.5
Number of votes:102
Ingredients
6 eggs
1/2 cup milk
4 Tablespoons butter or margarine
8 ounces Swiss or gruyere cheese (shredded)
6 slices of crusty Italian bread
6 to 8 ounces sausage (bacon or ham can be substituted)
Instructions:

Butter the bread and place, buttered side down, in the bottom of a 9 x 13-inch Pyrexbaking dish. Place the meat evenly on top of the bread, assuring that the corner areas of the baking dish are not overlooked. Mix the remaining ingredients and pour over the bread and meat mixture. Cover with food wrap and refrigerate overnight. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 375 degrees until the sides and top of the frittata are golden brown — about 45 minutes. The overnight marinating step can be omitted if you’re pressed for time, but it does take a little away from the final result.
