Russian black bread recipe details
Ingredients
375 ml | water |
2 tbsp | cider vinegar |
300 g | white bread flour |
125 g | rye flour |
1 tsp | salt |
2 tbsp | vegetable oil |
2 tbsp | molasses or treacle |
1 tbsp | dark brown sugar |
3 tbsp | cocoa powder, unsweetened |
1 tsp | instant coffee granules |
1 tbsp | caraway seed |
¼ tsp | fennel seed, optional |
2 tsp | active dried yeast |
Instructions
To make in a bread machine set to Wholemeal/Whole wheat setting, normal crust and bake cycle.Place ingredients in bowl in accordance to manufacturers’ instructions and start the machine. Adjust balance of mixture by adding a little more flour or water if required, once initial mixing is complete.
Upon completion of baking cycle, remove bread from pan and allow to cool on a wire rack. Slice once cold. Serve with cheese, cold meats etc with or without pickles.
