Ingredients

8 large fresh figs, cut and opened from the top
125 g mixed chopped nuts, e.g. almonds, walnuts, pecans, pistachio and hazelnuts – use 3 different nuts
3 tbsp honey
125 g cream cheese
3 tbsp sugar
16  dried dates
4 tbsp orange liqueur or other fruit liqueur
rosewater, orange flower water or vanilla extract

Instructions

Preheat the oven to Gas Mark 6, 200C, 400F.

Mix the nuts, honey, icing sugar, cream cheese and liqueur together in a bowl until even.

Open the dates sufficiently to allow the filling to be placed within. Arrange two dates on top, diagonally opposed so that they resemble a ‘V’. Roast for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle lightly with flavouring.

Serve immediately, two figs per serving!
