Redcurrant and orange chutney recipe details
Ingredients
2 | oranges |
2 | onions, finely chopped |
2 | red hot chilli peppers, seeded and finely chopped |
1 pinch(es) | ground cloves |
1 pinch(es) | cinnamon powder |
500 g | redcurrants, trimmed and washed |
200 ml | red wine vinegar |
100 ml | dry red wine |
300 g | jam sugar 2:1 |
1 tsp | salt, heaped |
Instructions
Peel and fillet oranges, work over a bowl to collect the juice.In a saucepan, mix the vinegar with the wine, salt, cloves, cinnamon and onions and bring to a boil. Add sugar, the orange fillets and juice, chilli and the redcurrants. Bring to a rolling boil again and cook stirring for 4 minutes. Pour into sterilized jars still piping hot and seal with screw caps. Place the glasses upside down for 3-5minutes.
Store on a cool and dark place.
Serve with duck or venison.
