Red cabbage with currants recipe details
Ingredients
1 tbsp | cumin seeds |
2 tsp | dry red wine |
1 | red onion, thinly sliced |
¼ tsp | salt |
1 small | red cabbage, thinly sliced |
150 g | redcurrants |
2 tbsp | vinegar |
180 ml | water |
Instructions
Toast cumin seeds in a frying pan, about 1 minute.In a large pot, heat wine. Add onion and salt, and sauté for 5 minutes. Add red cabbage and sauté over low heat, about 5 minutes. Add some water to prevent sticking. Add cumin seeds and redcurrants.
In a bowl mix vinegar and water and pour over the cabbage and mix well.
Preheat oven to 150°C.
Lightly oil a baking dish and spoon the cabbage and liquid into it. Cover and bake for 45-60 minutes.
