Ingredients

Serves: 8
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 3/4 cups water
  • 2 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 (16 ounce) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 (15 1/2 ounce) can great northern beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 (15 ounce) can chickpeas, rinsed and drained
  • 1 (15 ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 tablespoon baking cocoa
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Hot sauce, to taste

Preparation method

Prep: 15 mins | Cook: 40 mins

1. In a large saucepan, cook the onion and pepper over medium heat until browned, about 10 minutes. Add remaining ingredients, turn heat to high, and bring to a boil.
2. Turn heat down to low. Simmer for 30 minutes over low heat. Serve with hot sauce dashed over the top, as much as you like.
