- Ingredients
- French bread (2 slices per person)
- Cream cheese
- Eggs (1 for each slice of bread plus 1 more)
- Orange juice (approximately 1/2 cup for 8 to 10 slices of bread)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon orange extract
- Cinnamon
- Nutmeg
- Powdered sugar
Preheat griddle to 300 degrees. Slice bread 3/4 inch thick. Top slices with a thin layer of cream cheese. Arrange single layer in a large glass dish or jelly roll pan. Beat eggs, orange juice, vanilla, and orange extract thoroughly and pour over bread. Soak for 5 minutes each side. With cream cheese side up, top generously with cinnamon and nutmeg.
Grill at approximately 300 degrees until brown. Adjust temperature according to how much liquid the bread soaked up. Top with powdered sugar. Serve with hot maple syrup or fruit, bacon or sausage, orange juice, and coffee.
