Potato bread recipe details
Ingredients
500 g | wholemeal wheat flour |
1 cube(s) | yeast |
1 tsp | salt |
3 medium | potatoes, peeled and grated (uncooked!) |
¼ l | buttermilk, or single cream mixed with water |
butter, to brush |
Instructions
Put the flour in a bowl and make a well in the middle. Dissolve the yeast in warm buttermilk, pour this into the well and stir in a little of the flour. Allow to rise for 15 minutes. Then mix with all the flour and knead until the dough is smooth. Allow to rise in a warm place for another 15 minutes.Thoroughly knead in the grated potatoes and the salt. Transfer the dough into a greased loaf pan and allow to rise again for at least 30 minutes.
Bake in the preheated oven for 50 minutes at 200°C.
Remove from the pan, place on a wire rack and brush with the butter.
