Plum Dessert with Shortbread and Cream recipe

|4||plums, pitted, halved, cut into wedges|
|¼ tsp||vanilla extract|
|2||Shortbread cookies, crushed|
|whipping cream, whipped, for garnish|
|fresh plum jam, for garnish|
Simmer water in a small saucepan over low heat and add the sugar. Stir until sugar dissolves.
Cool slightly, add vanilla extract and stir well. Pour syrup over fruit.
Chill for at least 2 hours before serving.
Spoon fruit with 2 tbsp of the syrup into serving dishes and sprinkle with cookie crumbs. Top with fresh plum jam and whipped cream, if desired.
