Pizza sauce margherita recipe details
Ingredients
1 | pizza dough, Neapolitan – style |
1 kg | plum tomatoes, peeled and seeded |
4 tbsp | olive oil |
2 clove(s) | garlic, finely chopped |
½ tsp | salt |
3 tbsp | basil, ripped by hand |
¼ tsp | pepper |
Instructions
Heat olive oil in a sauce pan, add garlic and heat for 1 minute.Add tomatoes and the rest of the ingredients. Simmer for 30-60 minutes to reduce the juice from the tomatoes.
When done spread on pizza, top with your favorite toppings and bake at 230°C.
Suggestions for toppings:Sliced fresh mozzarella, fresh basil leaves and/or some shaved parmesan. Drizzle some olive oil on top. Bake until mozzarella is melted.
