Pineapple stuffed bacon wrapped hot dogs recipe details
Pump up the basic hot dog with this pineapple syrup stuffing and a wrapping of crispy bacon.

Ingredients
Serves: 8- 8 hot dog franks
- 1/4 cup well-drained, crushed pineapple
- 1 ounce unsweetened pineapple juice
- 1/8 cup packed dark brown sugar
- 4 teaspoons honey
- 1/2 teaspoon lime pepper
- 8 slices thick-cut bacon
- 6 (10-inch) skewers, cut into thirds, soaked in water
- Barbeque sauce
- 8 hot dog buns (optional)
Preparation method
Prep: 15 mins | Cook: 25 mins1. Cook the bacon over low temperature, pressing down on it with a bacon press or spatula to keep slices flat. Remove from heat when the bacon starts to shrink significantly, and drain on paper towels.
2. Preheat grill to medium.
3. In a saucepan, combine the unsweetened pineapple juice, brown sugar, and lime pepper. Heat to boiling, stirring so the brown sugar dissolves. Add honey and remove from heat. Let cool.
4. Cut a slit in each hot dog, lengthwise, beginning about a quarter-inch from each end. DON’T cut through the bottom.
5. After the syrup has cooled slightly and thickened, add the crushed pineapple. Then spoon the pineapple-syrup mixture into the hot dog slits.
6. Wrap each hot dog with a slice of bacon and secure at each end with one-third of a skewer.
7. Grill hot dogs to desired doneness, about 10 minutes. Near the end of the grilling process, brush with a little barbeque sauce. Keep a spray bottle handy for flare-ups!
8. Serve on buns.
