Ingredients

300 g flour
400 g sugar
300 ml vegetable oil
2 ½ tsp cinnamon
2 tsp hot water
4 medium eggs, separated
60 g pecans, chopped
200 ml applesauce
powdered sugar

Instructions

Combine the flour, sugar, oil, applesauce, cinnamon, water, and egg yolks. Mix with an electric mixer at medium speed. Stir in chopped pecans.

In a separate bowl beat egg whites until stiff and then fold into batter.

Pour mixture into an ungreased pan and bake at 180°C for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Invert pan and cool cake completely; remove from pan.

Sprinkle top of cake with powdered sugar.
