Peaches and cream french toast recipe details
- Ingredients
- 2-1/2 loaves French bread, cut into 1-1/2 inch slices (this will accommodate 12 slices per pan)
- 12 eggs
- 1 quart half & half
- Berry sauce or syrup, if desired
- Peach Sauce
- 3/4 bag fresh frozen peaches (save remaining peach slices for garnish)
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 1-1/2 cups sugar
Use 2 large pans, preferably glass. Mix eggs and cream together well. Pour some of this mixture into the bottom of each pan (a total of 1/3 of mixture). Distribute bread slices, 12 each into each of the 2 pans, then pour the remaining egg mixture evenly over the tops. Allow to set for 5 minutes, then gently turn pieces over. Cover with plastic wrap and place in refrigerator.
Make peach sauce ahead of time or in the morning prior to when the dish is to be served by blending all ingredients until smooth.
Brown both sides of French toast in butter. Lay pieces back in clean, greased pans and bake at 350 degrees for 5 to 7 minutes. Turn oven to low to keep warm. For garnish, pour 1/4 of peach sauce onto a plate and swirl to cover bottom. Drizzle with a contrasting berry sauce and make a design if you wish. Place 2 pieces of French toast on top, then dust with powdered sugar. Garnish with fresh mint, remaining peach slices, and strawberries if desired.
