Parmesan baguette recipe details
Ingredients
1 kg | strong white flour |
700 ml | water |
20 g | fresh yeast |
2 tsp | sugar |
2 tsp | salt |
2 tsp | oregano |
4 tbsp | freshly grated Parmesan cheese |
Instructions
Mix salt, sugar and crumbled yeast with the water. Stir the mixture until the yeast has dissolved. Put aside for about 20 minutes. Then stir the mixture, it should bubble up easily now.Preheat the oven to 50°C.
Then add the liquid to the flour. Knead for about 10 minutes until the dough is smooth and pliable. Switch off the oven. Put the dough into a bowl and cover with a warm, damp towel. Place the bowl onto the bottom of the oven and let it prove for 1 ½ to 2 hours or until doubled in size.
Take out and knead again briefly.
Preheat the oven to 230 °C, fan on.
Then divide the dough into two equal parts. Shape each part to an about 40cm long thin sausage. Place each diagonally onto a baking sheet and sprinkle with water.
Mix the cheese with the dried oregano and sprinkle the mixture onto the well moistened breads. Press lightly and sprinkle again with water.
Bake for about 20-25 minutes, depending on the desired browning.
