Orange glazed french toastwith roasted cashews recipe details
- Ingredients:
- 8 slices of homemade white bread
- 3 large eggs
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1 Tablespoon water
- 2 Tablespoons orange marmalade
- 1/4 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup half & half
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
- zest curls of one orange
- 1/2 cup cashew halves, roasted in oven for a few minutes (until warm and golden)
- fresh Nasturtium petals (use only organic ones)
- powdered sugar
- maple syrup (served warm)
Set aside sliced bread. Whip the eggs, then beat in the next nine ingredients. Set aside remaining ingredients for garnishing. Heat a griddle to 400 degrees. Use spray oil on griddle to prevent French Toast from sticking. Whisk the batter and then dip a slice of bread in, quickly coating both sides, and place on griddle. Do this to as many slices as will fit on griddle. When golden, flip slices to cook the other side. Store golden toasted slices in warm oven until all slices are cooked. To serve, cut slices into diagonals, arrange on plates, and sprinkle with orange zest, roasted cashew halves, nasturtium petals, and powdered sugar. Delicious drizzled with warm maple syrup.
