This refreshing recipe dates to an 1860’s cookbook…it’s real lemonade. When serving, rub the rim of the glass with a lemon wedge and then place lemon in glass or add a sprig of mint. Served at Eagle Centre House with pretzels, another old-time favorite of the era.
- Ingredients
- 3 lemons
- 6 Tablespoons sugar
- 4 cups water
- Ice
Instructions:
Cut lemons in half. Squeeze lemons using a reamer; remove seeds. Pour into serving pitcher, add sugar, and let stand awhile to allow sugar to dissolve; stir. Add water and stir again. Serve over ice.
