Northwestern sweet chili recipe details
Most of the recipes I found don’t include the ingredients I placed in mine. This is another new recipe I came up with for a chili cook-off. It went just as fast as the Southwestern style chili did and many people enjoyed it, as well. This, also, is meant to be cooked and then sit overnight.

Ingredients
Serves: 10- 3 tablespoons cooking oil
- 1 large green bell pepper
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 tablespoons minced garlic
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 2 (15 ounce) cans chili beans
- 2 (15 ounce) cans diced tomatoes
- 2 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
- 2 cups water
- 1 1/2 tablespoons ground nutmeg
- 1 1/2 tablespoons ground cloves
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 1 tablespoons mild chili powder
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon pepper
- 1/4 to 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 to 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 8 drops Worcestershire sauce
Preparation method
Prep: 45 mins | Cook: 7 hours | Extra time: 8 hours 15 mins1. Heat oil over medium heat, and cook peppers, onions, and garlic until softened. Add ground beef and cook for 20 to 25 minutes, until meat is browned and crumbly; do not drain. Stir in chili beans, diced tomatoes, and tomato sauce. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to medium-low. Stir in water. Add remaining ingredients and stir until well mixed. Keep on low to medium-low heat and cook for 4-5 hours, stirring occasionally. Turn off and refrigerate overnight. In the morning (or when desired) heat chili over medium heat until it comes to a boil. Reduce heat and let cook another 3-4 hours, or until ready to consume.
