New england apple cake recipe details
- Ingredients
- 5 to 6 New Hampshire apples (peeled, cored, and sliced)
- 5 Tablespoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 3 cups unsifted flour
- 2-1/3 cups sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 4 unbeaten eggs
- 1 cup cooking oil or 1 cup applesauce
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1/3 cup orange juice or apple cider
- 1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
Mix 5 Tablespoons sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle over apples and set aside.
Mix the flour, 2-1/3 cups sugar, salt, eggs, cooking oil (or apple sauce), vanilla, and orange juice (or apple cider). Then add baking soda and baking powder. Add cinnamon and apples. Stir well and pour into greased bundt pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1-1/2 hours.
