Ingredients
Serves: 12- 12 slices day-old bread, cubed
- 1 1/2 cups cubed fully cooked ham
- 1 cup chopped green pepper
- 3/4 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
- 3/4 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 1/3 cup chopped onion
- 7 eggs
- 3 cups milk
- 3 teaspoons ground mustard
- 1 teaspoon salt
Preparation method
Prep: 15 mins | Cook: 45 mins | Extra time: 8 hours, chilling1. Coat a 13×9-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Distribute bread cubes in the bottom of the dish, then sprinkle ham, green pepper, cheeses, and onion on top of the bread.
2. In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs with milk, mustard, and salt until frothy. Pour evenly over the bread and ham. Cover dish with foil or plastic wrap.
3. Refrigerate strata for 8 hours or overnight. Take out of the fridge and uncover about half an hour before you want to bake; while strata is warming up, preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
4. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes.
