Ingredients

For the chocolate sponge:
230 g butter
230 g castor sugar
4 medium eggs, beaten
230 g flour
2 tbsp cocoa
2 tsp baking powder
For the Icing:
60 g butter
1 tbsp strong espresso
1 tbsp Tia Maria
180 g icing sugar

Instructions

Cream together butter and sugar. Fold in beaten eggs.

In a separate bowl mix together the flour, cocoa and baking powder. Combine with the egg mixture and mix well.

Pour batter into a greased 20x30cm tin, and bake for 30 minutes at 150°C.

Icing:
Combine butter with warm espresso and Tia Maria. Add icing sugar and mix until smooth and creamy.

Spread icing over the cake, and cut into squares when cooled.
