Meady's slow cooker goulash recipe details
This is one of the first things I made in my slow cooker, my mam gave me recipe, so I thought I’d give it a go. I put it all together before going out for the day, my mates ending up coming back home with me, and as soon as I opened the door the smell was amazing and it was ready to serve. Everyone loved it, even my friend Nicola, who rarely tries any food that’s out of her norm. Give it a go, it freezes well too.
Ready in: 8 hours 10 mins
Ingredients
Serves: 8- 4 lb stewing steak cut into cubes
- plain flour to coat steak
- 2 tbsp paprika (hungarian works best)
- 4 tbsp dried onion flakes (works best) or 2 onions sliced
- 2 tbsp salt
- 2 sachets bouquet garni
- 2 x 14 oz cans tomatoes
- 1 tsp garlic granules
- 20 fl oz beef stock
- 15 oz mushrooms, sliced
- sour cream
Preparation method
Prep: 10 mins | Cook: 8 hours1. Coat steak in flour, place in slow cooker, add all other ingredients, except the sour cream. Mix well, set cooker to low, place lid.
2. Cook for around 8 hours or until meat is tender. Remove bouquet garni, taste and add more salt if needed, stir in sour cream to your liking, and serve.Alternate method
Freezes well. I always freeze before adding the sour cream, so dont know what it would be like with it.
