Mascarpone stuffed french toast recipe details
- Ingredients:
- 1 cup mascarpone at room temperature
- 1 Tablespoon brown sugar
- Freshly ground nutmeg
- 6 slices (1-1/2 inch thick) French bread
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup half and half
- 1 Tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 Tablespoon brandy
Gently mix mascarpone, brown sugar, and nutmeg. Using a steak knife, cut a pocket in the base of each slice of bread. Spoon the mascarpone into the pocket. Combine the eggs, half and half, brown sugar, and brandy in a flat pan. Place the bread slices in the egg mixture, turning to coat. Using a non-stick skillet or a heavy bottom fry pan and a little butter, fry both sides of bread until golden. Hold in a 150-degree oven for 10 minutes for filling to heat through.
